The Gear We Use

Hi my name is Gary Higdon, I founded the band Bluestown many years ago,and began playing all around the area of Jeffersonville Indiana, Madison Indiana, and Louisville Ky. The guitar I was using at that time was a Fender Mexican Squire Telecaster and a Fender Pr650 amp. Sence the The equipment I have used has changed many times, adding a Fender Strat, Beringer amp, Jay Turser and many others. First I want to say none of the band members get any compensation from the companys I am about to list, in other words we don't have to endorse the products we use. We pay full price for what we use, there fore you can trust that in our opinions these are the best peices of equipment for the job we do and we don't just say it to get a free guitar.

Gary Here, as I said earlier I have gone thru many guitars in my 50 years on this earth,1967 brought me a Kent electric guitar for Christmas, I have owend and played Fender, Gibson,Ibanez, Aria,Electra plus so many others, I have now turned to an in expensive but very professtional guitar In Agile. I have always loved the Les Paul from Gibson owning a 1955 Jr and a 1985 Deluxe, I have found for me the best guitar for what I play, blues, rock, jazz is the Agile 2000 Series Les Paul style. I own 4 of these and play them exclusivly on stage and in the studio.I have a 2500 Gold Top with P90's , the Gold finish rivels Gibson and Epiphone and the price is so great,The sound, the constuction is better than what you'd pay 3 times the money for,I also have a 2500 Heriatge cherry red with humbuckers,I did repalce the stock P/u's with Mighty Mite PAF's that are truly wonderful, I have a 2000 Cherry Sunburst that, for a new guitar looks so like a 59 Gibson standard, and the humbuckers kick ass,the are mellow when need be and bite when I need that,I also have a 2000 Natural same set up same P/u's but a different sound in deed.I run all this thru a Fender Deluxe amp 40 watts and I am looking at a Line 6 Spider.

La Gloria Cubana Cigars

I make no bones about it, I smoke cigars and I love them. There is nothing like a good handrolled cigar.I have smoked many and found Ernesto Perez Carillo makes the best in the world. The La Gloria Cubana is my smoke of choise, I perfer the Serie R Maduro but also like the El Credito La Gloria Seconds..Maduro Cigars are the best in the world.

Thanks Ernesto..

Paul Reed Smith Guitars

While I have only played one or two PRS's my friend and second guitarist Butch Stultz loves these guitars and uses them all the time. Some times he will bring three of the many, many PRS's he ownes to a show,.The McCarty and Dragons standards are un beleiveable sounding guitars. Butch's job in the band is to play solos 90% of the time, his solos rock the house and he uses PRS guitars to do it and he dose it well. His amps inclues Fender Deluxe Blues with Tone Tubby speakers, also an assortment of foot pedals like the H20 delay and blues driver knock me out. He just got a Fender Squire Solid Body double cutaway guitar with a set neck that screams Rock and roll.

DW drums

I have worked with many drummers over the years, they have played Everything from Yamaha,Ludwig, Gretch, DW and many others. My last Drummer Joe Dick used a set of Pearls but keept his dW's home one day during practice I noticed the sound the dW's had,Joe told me he loved the sound, he owned 3 sets, he sold the Pearls and got set #4 of dw's, the cheap set that sounded 1000 times better than the Pearls and yamahas I had heard. I am not a drummer but I know what sounds good,DW's are the best. When Harry Franklin joined the band he had a very expensive set of Yamahas but told me he was getting a nocer set of dW's . he did and I guess I am a drum snob.. DW Drums are the best made, best sounding and in my opinon and Harrys, the only drums I want on stage with me keeping time behind my playing.

Ibanez bass guitars

Dallas Cole, a veterian in the music buissness, he has been playing music in the area and about for a long time, when I met Dallas 5 years ago, he was playing guitar and harmonica, he was going to be the bassist in a band I was in called Chic Pea and the Gorbonzo Brothers, after I started Bluestown he sat in from time to time on harp, guitar, keyboard bass and drums, when the bassist spot opened in my band he played a while and said he'd like to play bass full time I said yes, amen, and he decided to up grade his gear. After serching for what he wanted he found an Ibanex neck thru 4 string as his main axe and a Fender Frontman 80 bass amp.Dallas is a man who knows equipment, when he said Ibanez is his bass of choice I know it's because it's the best.
